SKILLS AND ACHIEVEMENTS
Over the years I have built a strong profile in animal demography and modeling of population processes in a wide range of environments that has given me ample experience in both field data collection and analytical techniques. Such experience has allowed me to better understand how scientific research is made and has provided me with a transversal set of quantitative tools to deal with large, often complex, ecological datasets. Ample international and institutional mobility has given me experience in project participation and in leading research collaborations among multiple institutions, as well as experience in teaching and scientific outreach, through the organization of training courses and disseminating events (e.g. public talks, workshops).
ANALYTICAL AND STATISTICAL SKILLS
Analysis and modelling of encounter data on marked animals (i.e. unistate, multi-event, robust design and spatial capture-recapture models) using R and specialized software (MARK, E-SURGE, U-CARE and DENSITY).
Analysis and modelling of species' detection data (Single-season and Dynamic Occupancy models) using R and software PRESENCE.
Matrix population models and PVA using R and specialized software (ULM, Populus and RAMAS)
Data exploration, statistical analyses and graphic design using R.
Bayesian Hierarchical modelling using R and WinBUGS software
FIELDWORK EXPERIENCE
Mark-recapture monitoring (using PVC and/or metallic rings for birds, and carapace notching or photo-ID for reptiles) and manipulation of individuals of Scopoli’s shearwater (Calonectris diomedea), Audouin’s gull (Larus audouinii), Yellow-legged gull (Larus michahellis), Balearic lizard (Podarcis lilfordi) and Mediterranean tortoise (Testudo hermanni) for population census and morphometric measurements. Ebro Delta and Balearic islands, Spain (2009-2013).
Trapping (with fyke nets and lobster pots) and tagging (with T-bar Anchor tags) of Atlantic cod (Gadus morhua) and European lobster (Homarus gammarus). Skagerrak coast, Norway (2013-2015).
Mark-recapture monitoring (using PIT-tags) and manipulation of adult common frogs (Rana temporaria). Asturias, Spain (2017).
Nest census, capture (using mist nets) and manipulation of individuals of Storm petrel (Hydrobates pelagicus). Banneg island, France (2018).
