RESEARCH AND PUBLICATIONS

My field of research is population ecology, a discipline located at the interface between fundamental and applied ecological research. Groups of individuals (populations) are the basic units of my research, which can be divided in 3 major lines:

  • Local population dynamics and viability analyses

  • Patch occupancy dynamics and dispersal processes

  • Harvested populations and adaptive management

During my PhD, I began investigating the local dynamics of animal populations using capture-recapture data on seabirds and tortoises, later expanding my research focus to other species (i.e. fish, butterflies) and ecological questions (i.e. community dynamics, phenotypic selection). Most of the results of my research can be added to the existing knowledge on the biology of the species to improve their management and conservation status. As a post-doc, I have continued focusing my research on population dynamics, with emphasis on the adaptive management of animal populations within protected areas.
